A CHRONOLOGICAL BIBLIOGRAPHY

ON SAINT ELMO’S FIRES,

IGNES FATUI AND "EARTH LIGHTS"

by Roberto Labanti (CISU, CIPH) and Giuseppe Stilo (CISU)

Last update: September, 29, 2006. Number of entries: 1780

The following bibliography is aimed to simplify the indexing system and is listing works dealing with the so-called "Earth Lights" hypothesis or "terrain-related light phenomena"- as British researcher Paul Devereux put it alternatively – as well as a certain number of sources dealing with the more ambiguous "Ghost Lights". In general, no reference is included to sources concerning more specifically TST (Tectonic Stress Theory) and EQL (Earthquake Lights), since these are listed under a separate file by Massimo Silvestri in Chapter Three. In the same way, because of their autonomous relevance, bibliographical entries concerning the Hessdalen (Norway) phenomena are listed under a separate file by Renzo Cabassi in Chapter Two.

Please notes that some web links could now be obsolete, but you can retrieve some texts from the www.archive.org web site. A lot of sources have been retrieved through the "Magonia Exchange" project coordinated by British researcher Chris Aubeck. Of course we are greatly indebted to the pioneristic bibliographic works by William R. Corliss, Hilary Evans and Barry J. Greenwood.

The identifying codes of the sources consist of three parts:

– a general progressive number;

– the first letter of the language in which the source is written (D: German; E: English; F: French; H: Hungarian; I: Italian; L: Latin; P: Portuguese, R: Russian; S: Spanish; W: Swedish; N: Dutch);

– the year when the source was published.

The codes follow a scheme of this kind: NNN (number) L (language) YYYY (year). In the bibliographic notes, EL = earth lights,

IF = ignes fatui, SEF = Saint Elmo’s Fires.

Documents owned by Giuseppe Stilo are marked with an asterisk (*)
