Taking advantage of the opportunity and hospitality offered by the organizers of the First European UFO Meeting in Chalons-en-Champagne, France, a group of experienced researchers, representing long-standing national UFO organizations which are studying UFO phenomena with a scientific approach, met for brainstorming with the purpose of assessing the present situation of UFO research in Europe, and finding ways to improve the study and analysis of UFO phenomena in the future.

Though holding different opinions as of the nature of UFO phenomena, participants agreed about some concrete steps to be taken in order to get such objectives:

1) we need to improve and enlarge cooperation and data exchange among organizations and individuals who are studying these phenomena in a rational way, with the special aim of knowing precisely who's doing what (research projects and ongoing activities) at a European level;

2) such cooperation also means that all involved researchers know who has got what (as regards documentation and human resources) and transmit all useful information to those in the need;

3) present-day information tools offer unprecedented possibilities of gaining such cooperation in a fast and easy way;

4) we need to encourage and help scientific researchers (be they from university, government or military bodies) working on the study of anomalous aerospatial phenomena;

5) a working group is to establish a connection between the existing national catalogues of UFO reports;

6) specific actions are being conducted in order to save and maintain archives and documentation on all past researches;

7) the already existing network will be expanded and a specific Internet web site will be created for sharing information about ongoing researches and their results.

A lot of work remains to be done, before arriving to a complete understanding of the UFO phenomena. Research projects are being conducted to that aim, both as of physical and of human sciences.

The above press release was written by Vicente-Juan Ballester Olmos, Edoardo Russo and Jacques Scornaux.
